Exchange Traded Funds and Mutual Funds Course Sessions
This course has been broken down into four distinct sessions:
- Session 1: Introduction to Portfolio Management will teach participants to distinguish between different investment objectives and constraints. The risk tolerance for different clients will be discussed and the appropriate benchmarks will be determined. A contrast of domestic investing and international investing will also take place.
- In Session 2: Characteristics of Mutual Funds, participants will learn how to explain the features and characteristics of mutual funds as well as how to define and calculate Net Asset Value (NAV). A discussion of the different types of mutual funds and different investment styles will take place followed by a description of active management and execution of transactions.
- After the conclusion of Session 3: Characteristics of Exchange Traded Funds, participants will be able to explain the features and characteristics of Exchange Traded Funds. They will also be able to describe the creation and redemption process and recognize the differences between mutual funds and Exchange Traded Funds.
- The last session of the course, Session 4: Applications and Benefits of Exchange Traded Funds, covers the disadvantages and benefits of Exchange Traded Funds, as well as current issues in these kinds of funds.
