The Association for Investment Management and Research (AIMR) sponsors the CFA® program (Chartered Financial Analyst) which is a globally recognized standard for measuring the competence and integrity of financial analysts. Three levels of examination measure a candidate's ability to apply the fundamental knowledge of investment principles at a professional level.

Level II curriculum and examination focus on asset valuation. The tools and concepts covered in Level I are applied and used in asset valuation and portfolio management. The level II exam covers the analysis of specific equity and fixed income securities and other investments, estimating expected investment risk and return, and comparing alternative investments to make sound investment recommendation. Specific topics covered in the exam include:
